Chris Brady Makes First USMNT Start in 4-2 Win Over Chile
Chicago Fire FC goalkeeper Chris Brady made his first start for the U.S. Men's National Team on Tuesday night, playing the first half of a 4-2 win over Chile at Energizer Park in St. Louis.
The United States went ahead in the 37th minute when Sebastian Berhalter finished a Sergiño Dest assist. Chile equalized in first-half stoppage time through Diego Ulloa, off a corner kick. Brian Schwake replaced Brady at halftime, and the United States pulled away in the second half with goals from Julian Hall, Chris Richards, and Mathis Albert. The match drew 21,680.
The win was the second match of the USMNT's four-game fall window, the first under head coach Mauricio Pochettino since the 2026 World Cup. Brady remains with the team for the final two matches: Mexico on October 3 in Glendale, Arizona, and Canada on October 6 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
A year of milestones
Tuesday's start adds to a significant year for Brady internationally. In May, he was named to the 2026 World Cup roster, becoming the first Chicago Fire Homegrown Player selected for a senior World Cup squad. In September, he was called into the first camp of the new cycle after one of the strongest club seasons of his career, including five MLS Team of the Matchday selections.
The Naperville native signed with the Fire as a Homegrown Player in March 2020 at age 16.
