Most recruiting advice is describing rules that no longer exist.
Between 2024 and 2026, four things changed at once. The National Letter of Intent was eliminated. Scholarship limits were replaced by roster limits. Schools began paying athletes directly. And the eligibility clock was rebuilt around age rather than seasons played.
Almost every recruiting guide, club handout and forum post your family will find was written before that. Some of it is confidently wrong about rules that decide whether your player is eligible at all.
This document does one thing differently: it prints the bylaw number next to the rule. Bylaw 13.9.3.1 for written offers. Bylaw 17.2 for roster limits. Bylaw 12.3.1 for pre-enrollment agents. You do not have to take our word for any of it.
Where a figure is a practitioner estimate rather than an NCAA rule, it says so on the page.

What does "free updates" mean?
NCAA rules are moving quickly and several described here are being litigated. When a rule changes, you get the corrected edition at no charge, through your player's signing period.
Is this legal advice?

Does it cover Division II, III or NAIA?
No — this is Division I only. Those divisions have their own rules and calendars, and for many players one of them is the better fit. The playbook says so on page 2 rather than pretending otherwise.
