Chris Brady Named Man of the Match and MLS Team of the Matchday After Six Saves Against Inter Miami

Six saves before a club-record 63,094 at Soldier Field, and a nod from the opposing bench.

Chicago Fire FC goalkeeper Chris Brady was named Man of the Match in Wednesday night's 1-1 draw with Inter Miami CF. On Thursday, MLS named him to its Team of the Matchday for Matchday 25.

The match drew a club-record crowd of 63,094 to Soldier Field, breaking the previous mark of 62,358, which was also set against Inter Miami, in April 2025. The night was billed as Lionel Messi against Robert Lewandowski, and Lewandowski delivered, putting the Fire ahead in the 10th minute.

After that, Miami had most of the ball. The visitors held 62 percent of possession in the first half and outshot Chicago 9-3, with five of those shots coming from Messi. Brady made three big saves in the half, including a diving stop on a Germán Berterame shot early in the game, and the Fire went into the break ahead. By halftime, the Apple TV booth was calling it "the Chris Brady Show."

Casemiro equalized in the 48th minute off a Messi assist. Brady held firm from there. Miami finished with 20 shots, seven of them on target, and Brady saved six. The crowd chanted his name throughout the night.

The opposing bench noticed too. After the match, Inter Miami interim head coach Guillermo Hoyos was asked what his attack had been missing. "Nothing went wrong; the standout player of the match was the [Chicago] goalkeeper," Hoyos said.

Brady's selection to the Team of the Matchday is his fifth of the 2026 season. Fire defender Andrew Gutman, who assisted Lewandowski's goal, was also named. The draw extended Chicago's unbeaten run to seven league matches, the club's longest since 2017.
