Jaylen Shannon Makes First Start With Chicago Fire

Jaylen Shannon, a central defender with Chicago Fire 2, was called up to the 1st team and started at center back in a Leagues Cup match against Sporting KC on Saturday night.

It was Jaylen's first time being called up to the Fire and he did not disappoint. He played just under 60 minutes and provided a steady defensive presence in the Fire's 3-5-2 formation. Notably, Jaylen forced a turnover near midfield in the first half which ultimately led to the Fire's only goal of the match.

Jaylen, an All-American Defender at Western Michigan University, signed with Chicago Fire 2 prior to the 2024 season. He has since started 16 matches and played 1408 minutes - which is third on club in each category. Jaylen was the first and only player this season from Chicago Fire 2 to start for the parent club.

Congratulations to Jaylen on this great accomplishment!
